LEXUS ADDS NEW DRIVETRAIN AND SPECIFICATION TO GS LINE

KEY POINTS- Lexus adds GS 300h to vehicle line-up - now four drivetrains- GS Line active safety boosted with the addition of Lane Keep Assist*- Driveability improved across all GS 350 models with adoption of eight-speed transmission- New features adopted as standard across selected models

Lexus has doubled its hybrid offering in the highly awarded GS Line with the addition of the new GS 300h variant.

The new drivetrain also marks further enhancements to the GS Line to improve active safety and driveability while offering higher levels of standard equipment.

The new GS 300h will be available in Luxury, F Sport and Sports Luxury variants with a new 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid drivetrain.

The new to GS drivetrain, which first appeared on the all-new IS 300h sedan earlier this year, develops 164kW while delivering fuel efficiency of 5.2 litres per 100km and 121 grams of CO2 per kilometre on the combined cycle# - making it the most efficient GS in the range.

With the addition of GS 300h, the Lexus GS Line now boasts two five-star vehicles, as rated by the Federal Government's Green Vehicle Guide - the highest rating for efficient vehicles.

In addition to the new drivetrain, Lexus has also boosted the overall range offering with new and improved specification.

Lexus GS 350 receives a new eight-speed transmission to aid driveability and response.

Safety has been improved with the adoption of Lane Keep Assist as standard across all GS Line Sports Luxury variants and optional on GS 350 and GS 450h F Sport models*.

The GS Line's head up display (HUD) has also been upgraded so that it projects navigation, audio and vehicle speed information onto the windshield in full colour.

Sports Luxury variants also receive new 19-inch alloy wheels (replacing 18-inch alloys) and LED fog lamps as standard.

Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley said the revisions make the GS Line an even more compelling choice, and the additional hybrid variant is a part of Lexus' quest for more environmentally sound vehicles.

"We're pleased to provide our customers with another hybrid vehicle option," Mr Hanley said.

"Lexus is the luxury hybrid pioneer and the introduction of the GS 300h has a significant part to play in the continued growth of hybrid vehicle sales in Australia.

"GS 300h brings the total number of Lexus hybrids on sale up to seven, and we believe that this will help us achieve our goal of a 50/50 split in sales of hybrid and conventional engine vehicles in the future," he said.

The Lexus GS Line now consists of four different models - the hybrid four-cylinder GS 350h, the V6-engined GS 250 and GS 350, and the hybrid V6-engined GS 450h.

Luxury, F Sport and Sports Luxury specification levels are available on all four models.
