The all-new 2025 Ford Expedition® lineup of full-size SUVs debuts - uncompromising in its role to help active families move up to eight people and fully redesigned to help them make the most of every minute together with better versatility, advanced technology and improved capability.
"For Expedition customers, family is at the center of everything they do," said Trevor Scott, general manager of Ford Utilities. "We spent more than 1,100 hours talking with customers about their everyday lives. And with those insights we've rethought and redesigned Expedition to help customers make the most of their precious time with family and to make life easier - before, during and after every trip they make."
Available as either standard-wheelbase Expedition or extended-length Expedition MAX, the fifth-generation Expedition delivers the things customers expect, such as comfort, roominess and connectivity and is improved with modern design, better cargo storage and a reimagined cabin experience that gives everyone access to technology and power.
From its largest-in-class 24-inch panoramic display, to available features such as the Flex Powered Console and an available class-exclusive 40/20/40 folding third-row bench seat, the Expedition team has found new ways to make traveling and gathering a uniquely Expedition experience.
Versatility
The all-new Ford Expedition was designed not only to get families where they need to go, but also to be a fundamental part of the experience once they arrive.
Expedition Active, King Ranch® and Platinum® include a standard 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine rated at 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. A High Output 3.5-liter EcoBoost with 440 horsepower and 510 pounds-feet of torque is standard for the all-new Tremor® and available for Platinum.
With cargo management as a priority, the new Ford Split Gate makes every Expedition the only vehicle in its class that combines the best of a traditional SUV liftgate with the cargo management of a pickup truck tailgate. Three-quarters of the gate raises like a traditional liftgate, while the lower quarter folds down like a truck's tailgate.
"It was designed to not only get customers to where they need to go, but to be the center of the experience once they arrive," said Jill Dougherty, Ford Expedition exterior designer. "Our goal was to enable customers to linger longer whether they're at the stadium or the campsite."
The tailgate has the muscle to support up to 500 pounds and includes an available seatback from the available Cargo Tailgate Manager. The seatback also transforms to turn the tailgate into a serving table, and power outlets in the cargo area are just an arm's length away.
Accessing the cargo area has never been easier. If your hands are full, stand near the back of the vehicle for a few seconds with the key fob in your pocket and the Ford Split Gate automatically opens thanks to available Open-on-Approach.
Storage and cargo management access is also easier for passengers in the first and second rows. With the press of a button, a driver can easily slide the available new Flex Powered Console back nearly eight inches, opening a secure place in front to store a bag, purse or other valuables and giving second-row passengers easier access to a console with audio and climate controls and cupholders.
Hauling long objects such as skis, fishing rods or lumber doesn't have to compromise seating for six, thanks to the available new Third-Row Flexible Seating. The middle of the rear bench seat folds down independently to open a long center aisle that extends from the Split Gate clear to the front center console to help customers manage their cargo and people-moving needs.
And the fun doesn't have to end when the sun goes down, thanks to available exterior zone lighting. Four lighting zones surround the exterior of the vehicle to provide ample lighting for the tailgate, campsite, and everything else in between. Control of the zone lighting system - including the ability to select specific zones around the vehicle - can be accessed in the vehicle's redesigned infotainment system.
Advanced Tech
From the moment a customer sits behind the wheel of the all-new 2025 Expedition, they're immersed in a one-of-a-kind family command center that allows them to access their digital lives inside the car.
The new Ford Digital Experience is designed to allow greater connection and personalization for customers through driver-specific profiles, including some of their favorite apps, helping make time behind the wheel more enjoyable, even when parked.
The Ford Digital Experience comes to life for Expedition owners through beautiful display screens, including a 24-inch panoramic display, which takes the place of a traditional gauge cluster. Unlike other vehicles in the class, the panoramic display is positioned near the lower edge of the windshield to help keep drivers looking at the road ahead. This enables sight lines over - not through - the steering wheel.
Designed to prioritize the use of voice, customers can either select Google Assistant or Alexa for in-vehicle controls, including to set in-vehicle temperature, search information, find and set a destination and request a specific broadcast or satellite radio station. It can also help with making calls, sending texts, setting meetings and controlling connected smart home devices.
To optimize the Ford Digital Experience, the all-new Ford Connectivity Package gives owners the ability to use the Wi-Fi® hotspot capability, Google Play apps and embedded Google Maps seamlessly.
New Expedition customers can choose how they want to activate the Ford Connectivity Package. At vehicle order, customers can select a one-time purchase without having to worry about setting up a subscription. Non-subscribers will receive a one-year complimentary trial upon activation. Following the one-year trial, customers can subscribe annually.
Digital Device Holder
It's nearly impossible to simultaneously hold a tablet to watch videos, text a friend on your phone and eat French fries.
Expedition solves the problem with an available new Digital Device Holder mounted to the back of the first-row headrests. The device easily clamps firmly around nearly any digital device - from standard smartphone to over-sized tablet.
BlueCruise Hands-Free Highway Driving
For 2025, we're expanding the availability of Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving across the Expedition lineup, making it available to activate on nearly 90% of all Expedition models. Now, Platinum, King Ranch, Tremor and Active models are equipped with BlueCruise hardware. Our goal is to provide access to hands-free highway driving to more Expedition customers.
All BlueCruise-equipped models feature an improved version of BlueCruise, which delivers a smoother, more natural drive and increases the average amount of time owners can spend in hands-free mode. Expedition owners will be able to experience features such as Lane Change Assist, allowing a driver to switch lanes hands-free with a tap of the turn signal when the path is clear, and In-Lane Repositioning, which helps provide more space by subtly shifting away from vehicles in adjacent lanes.
New Expedition customers with BlueCruise-equipped vehicles will have even more options for how they access BlueCruise with one-year and one-time purchase options. Based on the vehicle model, owners will either have one year of access included standard or as an option at vehicle order. At vehicle order, customers can also choose to upgrade to a one-time purchase without having to worry about activating BlueCruise again on their vehicle.
If the customer chooses not to activate BlueCruise, they will experience hands-free highway driving with a complimentary 90-day trial. At the end of the trial, customers have the flexibility to activate annually or monthly, based on their needs. This is especially helpful for families who know they will be on the road during, for example, a travel sports season, so they can activate the feature when they need it most.
Whether the family is on the go running kids to practice, work and school events, or going on a weekend adventure, BlueCruise can help reduce some of the stress of driving.
More Capability
Because some adventures take families beyond the pavement, the 2025 Expedition lineup introduces a first-ever Tremor model, the most off-road capable Expedition ever.
With the same comforts that make the rest of the lineup shine, Expedition Tremor adds off-road gear to take on more rugged adventures. Its 10.6-inch ground clearance is better than any other vehicle in the Large Traditional Utility class. And it rolls on 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires.
Tremor is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 High-Output engine that puts out up to 440 hp and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. Re-tuned suspension and Electric Power-Assisted Steering systems. Raptor-inspired running boards and front skid plate. Embedded off-road auxiliary lights behind the grille. Underbody protection for the front axle, transfer case and fuel tank.
It was made for adventures that venture far off the beaten path, with a drive mode system that includes Rock Crawl Mode, and trail control system that includes Trail Turn Assist and Trail 1-Pedal.
"Tremor is the pinnacle of Expedition adventure-ready capability," said Adrian Aguirre, Expedition Chief engineer. "Expedition Tremor delivers off-road capability and hardware shared with F-150 Tremor combined with Expedition big family and cargo-carrying versatility."
Trailer Towing Capability and Technology
The all-new Ford Expedition offers comprehensive towing and hitching technology.
Pro Trailer Hitch Assist™ takes the frustration out of hitching a trailer. It uses the rear camera and corner radars to align the hitch with the trailer coupler while simultaneously controlling the truck's speed, steering, and braking to stop at just the right place all at the touch of a button.
After a short set-up, Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ feature allows the camera to track the trailer position while the driver backs up and guides the trailer. This is done by rotating the knob left or right in the direction the trailer needs to go, and the system controls the steering wheel.
When properly equipped Expedition delivers up to 7,000-pound towing capacity without the need for a load-leveling bar and 9,600-pound max towing capacity with a weight distributing hitch.
